Welcome! I am a Max Weber Postdoctoral Fellow and Part-Time Assistant Professor in Quantitative Methods at the European University Institute, where I arrived in September 2024 after receiving my PhD from New York University.
My work applies tools from causal inference to study a range of issues in political economy, comparative politics, and economic history. I am particularly interested in understanding the emergence of mass politics in developing states and societies, including phenomena such as contentious politics, the formation of political attitudes, or the rise of national identities. My dissertation studies how the expansion of education and voting rights shaped some of these processes in the canonical case of 19th-century France.
Prior to NYU, I earned a BA in Economics from Carlos III University of Madrid and an MA in Social Sciences from the Carlos III-Juan March Institute.
