Welcome! I am a Max Weber Postdoctoral Fellow and Part-Time Assistant Professor in Quantitative Methods at the European University Institute, which I joined in September 2024 after receiving my PhD from New York University.
My research lies at the intersection of comparative politics, political economy, and economic history. I am particularly interested in political development topics such as the emergence of contentious politics, the formation of political cleavages, and the rise of national identities. My dissertation studies how the expansion of education and voting rights shaped some of these processes in the canonical case of 19th-century France. My work leverages a range of methodologies, including causal inference, geospatial analysis, archival fieldwork, and game theory.
Prior to NYU, I earned a BA in Economics from Carlos III University of Madrid and an MA in Social Sciences from the Carlos III-Juan March Institute.
